Baby sis' Senior Prom

Sadie and I decided to go have some fun with the family and to head up to Tri-Cities. We opted for the weekend of Jess' Senior Prom! Of course since I was going up for prom, I had the opportunity to do Jessica's hair and makeup :) Grandpa entertained Sadie while I was busy working on the ladies. Making the hair beautiful and their makeup sparkle.










Sadie decided to show off for us she is wearing a bag on her back. (oh and I stole these pictures off of Jessie's Facebook and I don't know how to rotate the pics. Looks like I need to ask for the original files.)

Taking off in style (that's a Porsche)! Jessica's date was Marshal, a kid I used to babysit. He was about 3 feet shorter back then, and about 12 years younger! He sure has grown up. They both looked very sharp.

After we waved good bye to Jess as she left for her dinner/dance/prom date the rest of us headed out to dinner together. Sadie decided that mom and grandma needed her special tattoos. Have I mentioned that Sadie is obsessed with tattoos? Well she is and she now pretends to give people tattoos very frequently :)

I adore this lady. She decided mom needed a nice foot a leg massage while waiting for my toes to be painted after my pedicure. Sadie is so sweet and thoughtful!

New Chapter

Time to catch up on the latest news in our neck of the woods...My last post was written the day after we came back from Indiana to check out a graduate school for Jake, the following day (Tuesday) we received an e-mail from the school offering us a scholarship. The scholarship was a generous offer but not enough to convince us to go back to school this fall. It was ironic that we received a scholarship offer because Jake and I had talked over the weekend and both said that if we were offered a certain amount of financial assistance that we would strongly consider going back to school this fall. Then on Wednesday we received another e-mail from the school offering us an even bigger scholarship! Jake and I knew that it was going to be a hard decision. We had to weigh our options...

*If we stayed and worked an extra year Jake would become fully vested in his 401K and we would be able to walk away with all the money his company had put into the account verses taking only a portion of the money.

*We would be able to wait to sale our house so that we wouldn't have to deal with and loosing money due to the unstable housing market.

*We would both be able to work and save more money.

But if we went back to school....

*We would be making more money sooner

*We had a scholarship waiting for us that may not be available the following year

*If we got school done and out of the way we would be able to move forward with our life goals sooner.

The list really could go on and on. We decided after many prayers and fasting that....(drum roll...) this year is the year we will be enrolling and attending IU! I know this is a little shocking but we really feel that it is where we are supposed to be!

This move is going to be a big change, a bitter sweet moment in our lives. While we were out there, in Bloomington, we met so many great people, they were all so friendly, and even invited us over to hang out at their homes with them. However, the hard part is, we are moving further away from our families and hope that we will get to see them as much as we see them now =) We are excited to expand out network of friends and pray for a smooth transition.

Jake and I often talk about the paths of life that we have placed before us, wouldn't it be nice to know if I take Path A where will my life end up verses Path B or Path C. I guess that is why we are all here on earth, to make the best choices with the information we are given. It's time for us to step out of our comfort zone and to learn and grow!

Now that we have made our decision we have a lot of work ahead of us. We need to find good renters for our home here, find a good reliable moving company, and close up my business (this one is going to be the HARDEST thing for me). So any information and input is gladly welcomed =)

Here is to a new beginning and a new chapter in our lives!

Bloomington

This post may be a surprise to some of you, very few people are aware of this, but Jake has been looking at graduate programs. The plan all along has been to get his MBA, so this fall we applied to a few programs and anxiously awaited acceptance letters.

We applied to three schools, two we were very interested in and the third was a back up plan.

To our surprise we heard back very quickly from the two schools we were most interested in. One school accepted us and the other denied us, we got both emails the same day. It was a bitter sweet. The school that turned us down would have allowed us to continue living where we are, on the other hand the school that accepted us was ranked much higher but required us to move across the country.

This past weekend Jake, Sadie, my Mom and myself journeyed across the U.S. to the Midwest. To the state of Indiana to a small town just south of Indianapolis, a small town know as Bloomington. We wanted to get a feel for the city that may be our "new home".



Bloomington is a cute small town, with gorgeous scenery. In fact the campus is one of the top 5 most gorgeous campuses. When I heard this I thought, yeah right. Then I arrived on campus and was taken back. It really is beautiful! I would love to see this campus in the fall, or in spring time when all the trees are in bloom, and leaves are turning colors. While we were there about 30% of the trees, flowers and plants were blooming and showing signs of spring.













I took all of these pics with my iPhone so the quality isn't the best, but it gives you an idea of how pretty it is. And no I didn't photoshop at all. These are 100% real!








So to answer the question you have all been dying to know... Are we moving? Yes. When are we moving? Well we don't know yet. We are in the process of working out the details of our offer. Most likely next fall. We will keep you all posted :)


If we would have been just a week later we would have been able to see these lovely tulips in bloom.


And a huge thanks to my mom for flying out with us and helping us with Sadie. Jake and I had lots of dinners, meetings and various social events that were not kid friendly. It was so nice to have your help. (and yes I could not handle leaving my child in Utah or Washington overnight, the thought just made me sad, maybe if we were at least in the same state but not if we are over 1000 miles away) I'm a baby when it comes to my cute kiddo :)

Puppy bank

This is Sadie's pet puppy (the puppy bank) she loves to give it kisses and hugs and feeds it coins whenever she can find them. Today she decided he would like to eat hair bows :) See the bows sitting at his feet. This kid cracks me up!

Mother nature

Mother Nature was a little late on her April fools joke this year.... The past few days we have been in shorts and tank tops, enjoying the warm weather and riding bikes.



This morning we were greeted with this...



That 75 degree weather was just a tease?!? I hope not, I'm ready for spring!
